Hypnosis.

The state of Hypnosis, is a totally natural phenomenon, it is most pleasant and particularly relaxing. A person can converse quite easily whilst within the state. The centuries old technique of hypnosis is being used increasingly as an adjunct to orthodox medicine where it is proving a valuable alternative to drugs for anaesthesia, to accelerate healing, relieve stress and control pain. A good definition of Hypnosis is: "A state of relaxation, concentration and an altered state of consciousness completely different to either wakefulness or sleep."

The Hypnotist uses his voice to induce you into the state of Hypnosis and although you are unlikely to feel "Hypnotised" as such, you will probably experience a feeling of mental and physical relaxation during which your attention is withdrawn from the outside world and concentrated on mental, sensory and physiological experiences.

Most people can be easily induced into a state of Hypnosis providing they consent and develop a rapport with the therapist. However the subject remains in control at all times. Hypnosis can produce a deeper contact with your emotions and expose buried fears and conflicts.

Depth of trance varies according to the individual, from a light state close to waking, to a profound state known as somnambulism. For therapeutic purposes only light states are required, although the depth of trance will improve over time as the subject gains more confidence.

Hypnosis can be self-induced, especially with practice, by, for example concentration on ones own breathing and other focused practices such as meditation.

An excellent Audio CD is available to purchase on this site which produces a very good level of relaxation, especially when used on a regular basis.

Hypnosis can be used to treat a wide variety of problems where emotional or psychological forces are involved. Choice of therapist is important and the National Council have a web-site that lists registered practitioners in all areas of the UK.

Contact Michael Knock: An inexpensive 30 minute consultation is available for you to meet the therapist and for you to decide if there is any benefit to be gained from the process. Psychotherapy and Life Coaching is available using SKYPE (internet phone).

Self-Hypnosis.

Here is a simple method to induce you into a state of hypnosis. In fact all hypnosis is Self-hypnosis. Like everything else practice makes perfect. There is no such thing as a "Hypnotised" feeling, but you should develop a rather lethargic and relaxed state of mind that has an effect on your whole body. You know it when you feel it!

Technique:

Find a nice comfortable place to sit with your neck and head well supported. Place a hand on your chest and a hand on your abdomen just above your navel. Close your eyes and begin to notice your breathing. The object now, is to focus on your hands and breathing and, to breath in such a way, that the hand on your chest is as still as possible, but the hand on your abdomen is rising and falling.

When you have achieved this, begin to count backwards quite slowly from one hundred to zero. (approximately 2 second intervals between numbers). Keep your eyes closed, concentrate on your breathing and count slowly to yourself. The counting should be completely internal, if you can also visualise the numbers as you think them, this will help. Use your imagination, be creative, visualise the numbers changing colour perhaps or turning in the air.

When you get to zero, imagine you find a key that opens a door into a private world where all things are possible for you. This world can be anything you wish, perhaps just a very quite, relaxing place, that is all your own. Spend a little time exploring and when you are through, count slowly from one to five and open your eyes.

Just before you count yourself out, say these words to yourself, "every day, in every way, I am getting better and better and better."

Take your time, practice for at least 10 minutes every day and with time, you will achieve a good level of relaxation.

An audio CD is available on this site which will induce a very good level of relaxation, with the minimum of effort. It contains some powerful suggestions for health, happiness, confidence and relaxation.
